Panagiota Betty Evans was born in Athens. She lives and works in Voula, where she maintains a private practice since 1992. She is a licensed psychologist, psychotherapist, family therapist and holder of the European Certificate in Psychology (EuroPsy). She is married and the mother of one daughter.
Education and Specialization
She finished high school in the United States. She then continued her undergraduate education in psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland. She completed her post graduate work at Antioch University, Yellow Springs, Ohio where she was awarded a Master of Arts degree in the Psychology of Therapy and Counseling.
In Greece, she specialized in systemic and family therapy at the Laboratory for the Investigation of Human Relations. She also specialized in the systemic approach and family therapy through a special two year program under the direction of Dr. Mony Elkaim, president of the European Family Therapy Association (EFTA).
She has been certified by the EMDR Institute as a therapist in the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for the treatment of psychological trauma and post-traumatic stress. She was trained in EMDR by the psychologist, Udi Oren, Ph.D., Senior EMDR Institute Trainer. In addition, she is specialized in the therapy of couples and families and has been awarded the title of Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
Counseling and Consulting collaborations
She has worked as an instructor and coordinator of counseling groups for parents under the auspices of the Municipality of Voula in cooperation with the Prefecture of East Attica.
She cooperated as an external consultant at the Castalia Psychiatric Clinic for the diagnosis and psychotherapy of the individual patients and their families.
She did volunteer work at the Dromokaiteio Mental Hospital – Neo Theologeio, as a co-therapist in group therapy for chronic psychotics with a goal of rehabilitating them.
In addition, she develops and instructs seminars for private companies which are primarily concerned with the use of communication and teamwork in improving employee productivity.
