The psychologist Panagiota Betty Evans has been in private practice in the Voula area since 1992. She is a licensed psychologist/ psychotherapist, and holder of the European Certificate in Psychology (EuroPsy). She provides individual and group counseling and psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, and children. She also specializes in issues related to families and couples and is fully trained to work with individuals suffering from traumatic and post-traumatic disorders. She completed her undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park Maryland. She then completed her post graduate work at Antioch University, Yellow Springs, Ohio where she was awarded a Master of Arts degree in the Psychology of Therapy and Counseling. She has been certified by the EMDR Institute as a therapist in the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for the treatment of psychological trauma and post-traumatic stress. The word psychotherapy actually means therapy of the psyche. From this, we can hypothesize that all the methods which affect human behavior and relieve psychic pain are to some degree, psychotherapy. Psychologists prefer to use the term psychotherapy if the therapy has been accomplished with psychotherapeutic methods such as a therapeutic relationship and not with pharmacological treatment or other somatic intervention.
